For centuries, Christians across the globe have been grappling with end times prophecies. Many have differing theories based on biblical passages. Some even teach these theories as doctrine, which, in my view, is dangerous. With such a heady topic, it is only natural for humans to want to solve the riddle, have all the answers, and get to the root of it. Every bit of logic, reason, scientific methodology, and speculation is used to fit it all into a neat tidy box. Any time certain world events take place, prophetic revivals break out; the latest war along the border of Israel has sparked new talk of end times. A lucrative market exists for such a mystery and many preachers, writers, filmmakers, and politicians take full advantage of the opportunity; a whole industry is dedicated to this topic. Even non-believers get caught up in the hype and turn spiritual anticipating some supernatural phenomena. And though the Bible is used as a primary source of information, is scripture being used as it should when it comes to this subject? I will expound later in this message on what the Bible says about the final days, but I’d like to first focus on current events and how they influence human behavior.
